Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Flanders Scientific, Inc. ("FSI", "we", "us") operates this website and online shop. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.

What we collect

We collect information from you in the following ways:

Account registration and orders. When you create an account or place an order, we collect your name, email address, billing and shipping addresses, phone number, and order contents. For B2B customers we may also collect a company name, purchase order number, tax-exemption certificate, or other purchasing details you provide.

Payment information. Payment methods including credit/debit cards are processed by our payment partners (Authorize.Net for card payments, PayPal for PayPal payments). FSI does not store full card numbers on our servers. We retain only what's needed to reference a transaction — for example, the last four digits of the card, the transaction or capture ID, the payment method (card, PO, check, wire, PayPal), and a payment reference such as your PO number.

Shipping details. For orders shipped on your own carrier account, we collect the carrier (FedEx or UPS), your account number, service level, and a contact phone number so the carrier can reach you. This information is shared only with the carrier when the shipment is booked.

Product registration and service requests. If you register an FSI monitor or request an RMA, we collect the same identifying information plus serial number and service history needed to support the product.

Newsletter and marketing. We send marketing email only to people who explicitly opt in. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect technical data when you visit — IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, and similar — to operate the site and understand how it's used. See "Cookies" below.

How we use your information

  • To process and fulfill orders. Collecting payment, calculating tax, generating shipping labels, providing order updates, and responding to support requests.
  • To service products. Handling registrations, warranty work, RMAs, firmware updates, and direct customer support.
  • To improve the site. Aggregate analytics help us understand what's working and where customers get stuck.
  • To send transactional communications. Order confirmations, shipping notifications, account notices, and similar communications you can't opt out of because they're required to provide the service.
  • To send marketing communications you've opted in to. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technology only for the following purposes:

  • Functional cookies. Required for the site to work — session login, shopping cart contents, cart-recovery tokens, CSRF protection. Without these, parts of the site won't function.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand site usage in aggregate. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via Google's browser opt-out tool or by enabling Do Not Track in your browser.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but the shop, account, and checkout features won't work without functional cookies. Phone orders are available as an alternative — contact us.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with parties who help us operate the site or fulfill your order, and only to the extent needed:

  • Authorize.Net and PayPal — for payment processing.
  • Avalara — for sales tax calculation. Avalara receives the shipping address and order line items.
  • FedEx, UPS, USPS — for rate quotes and shipping. Carriers receive the shipping address, package details, and (for own-carrier orders) your carrier account number.
  • Our email provider — for sending transactional and marketing email.
  • Our internal CRM — for order management and customer support.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — operating the site itself.

We require these partners to keep your information confidential and to use it only for the services they're providing to us.

We may also disclose information when we believe in good faith that doing so is required to comply with law, court order, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of FSI, our customers, or others.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for advertising or marketing.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Receive a copy of that information.
  • Correct inaccuracies.
  • Delete personal information that's no longer required for an order, contract, or legal obligation.
  • Withdraw consent to marketing email at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the contact below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and some data (e.g., completed order records) must be retained for accounting and legal reasons.

For users in the EU/EEA (GDPR) or California (CCPA), additional rights may apply — please contact us with any specific request and we'll respond accordingly.

How we protect your information

We use industry-standard security including TLS encryption for all data in transit, access controls and audit logging on internal systems, and PCI-DSS-compliant payment processing handled by Authorize.Net. Sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest. We limit access to personal information to employees and partners who need it to do their jobs.

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard the data you entrust to us.

Data retention

We retain order records, transaction history, and customer account data for as long as your account is active or as required for accounting, tax, warranty, and legal obligations (generally a minimum of seven years). When you ask us to delete your account, we will remove personal data not subject to those retention requirements.

Third-party links

Our site may link to third-party sites we do not control. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes affecting how we use existing data will be communicated separately.
